February 2024 Valentine's Community Night

Our Valentine’s Community Night welcomed close to 130 guests, all excited to celebrate the holiday.! We all came together over a scrumptious dinner, catered and served by the Happy Ramblers 4H Club! What a great job this group of young adults did. Besides serving the meal, you could find them assisting families with young children, making the rounds to offer seconds, and clearing the tables after everyone had finished eating. Thank you Happy Ramblers for making the evening so special.

In addition, we would like to thank the Healing Chapters Foundation for the donation of 80 beautiful new books for our children and teens, and the Girl Scouts for 60 boxes of cookies. And a final thank you to Project Linus of SE Minnesota for the provision of 35 gorgeous blankets & quilts for our families to take home and wrap up in.

After dinner our children and teens got to enjoy all the activities being offered by our volunteers through the Kids and Teen Club Program. Our younger children got to enjoy a variety of age appropriate projects while our older children participated in a special evening immersed in painting and Art Therapy. A special thank you to Ally Barr who spent time with our young adults, while teaching them about Neurograhic Art! We had some great talent amongst our participants. Thank you Ally, for spending the evening with all of us!

And while our children were having fun in the Kids and Teen Club, our parents and caregivers had a chance to join one of two support groups. In addition to our regular sharing time, Childhood Cancer Community also offers a breakout session for our bereaved families. Thank you all of our families for attending our Community Nights and for making them so successful.
