May 2023 Master Gardeners & Garten Marketplatz Event

May 21st was one of the most beautiful days we have had this spring! It was 70 degrees and sunny. What a gorgeous day for hosting our May event.

Childhood Cancer Community (CCC) invited our families to Garten Marketplatz, a peaceful nursery, just outside of Rochester. The owners, Randy & Sue, made sure every detail was attended to, making our time with them very welcoming.

Lunch was served by the Happy Ramblers 4H Club in the beautiful Carriage House. The Happy Ramblers have served a meal for Childhood Cancer Community every year since our founding, and for this we are incredibly grateful.

After lunch we were joined by the UMN Extension - Olmsted County Master Gardener Volunteers. They worked with our children/teens in order to pot plants and make cards for Mother’s Day, create bird feeders, make “hand & feet” banners, and participate in Story Telling. Everyone had a great time!

We would also like to thank the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, Delta Sigma Pi, for providing gifts for the children. They consisted of cute little pots containing spring flower seeds, a bouquet of lollipops, and fun pinwheels. All of our CCC children loved them and were excited to plant their seeds when they got home.
